HLA Engineers, Inc., has a long history of activity in all types of petro-chemical projects. HLA solicits turn-key projects: design, analysis and testing, as well as trouble-shooting and special problem solving. Teaming with another local consultant for process, electrical and controls, HLA can take on complete engineering of new, remodeling and retro-fitting oil and chemical production, refinery, on and offshore projects.

• Pressure Vessels

Horizontal, vertical and spherical, including skirts, columns and/or saddles; Extensive experience with ASME Code Section VIII Division 1 and Division 2 rules. Extensive experience in fabrication drawings and calculations for all types of Division 1 pressure vessels and storage tank facilities. Carbon and Stainless Steel, exotic materials (Hastelloy, Monel, composites); cladding; auto-frettage. Engineered, analyzed and drafted fabrication drawings for many high pressure cryogenic vessels: to 10,000 psi & - 423⁰ F, per Division 2 in Seismic Zone 4 and rail transportation. Computer analysis and simulation of quick opening closures (to 36" diameter). Computer analysis of piping pressure sensors & flow meters.

• Piping

Design and analysis: B31.1 & 31.4. Pipe racks; Valve design & analysis; Special fitting analysis; Thermal, Seismic, Water hammer; Flexibility/stress analysis, Hangers and supports: Vibrations/seismic, Thermal loads. Spherical laminated piping flex joints. Computer analysis of piping pressure sensors & flow meters.

• Storage Tanks

API 650 and API 620, structurally supported and self supporting roofs

• Process Equipment

Equipment, Equipment supports, Foundations, Piping, Process engineering and controls; Pipeline components; Vibrations/seismic, Thermal loadings; Design and analysis

• Off-shore Oil Platform Mooring Systems

Analyzed and participated in the design of the flexible connections of the mooring system of the Conoco Tension Leg Platform installed in the North Sea. Engineering on various types of marine risers; analyzed drill bits, down-hole drilling components, pipe line components, and other types of oil field equipment.

Design and Analysis of rig and trailer to DOT & API requirements.
