Physical Testing HLA has extensive experience in designing and conducting the physical testing of structures.
CAD Design We have in-house personnel with many years of experience in designing and drafting. We can create engineering drawings and detailed fabrication drawings.
Fatigue Program We have developed our own Fatigue Program, using either the Strain Life or Modified Goodman approach. We can cue directional, principal or signed Von-mises stress components.
Damage Tolerance The Science of Damage Tolerance is a multidisciplinary subject, involving a combination of fatigue and fracture of metallic and polymeric materials.
Stress Analysis We have many years in performing stress analysis to exacting requirements; classical & FEA; formal reports & documentation; all materials: aluminum, carbon & stainless steels, composites and Elastomers.
Finite Element Analysis We have over 90 years combined experience, and are expert at Finite Element Analysis - both Linear and Non-linear.

Elastomers HLA Engineers, Inc. has had a long history performing analyses of difficult problems using elastomers.
Belt Model A full belt with a steel cable embedded in rubber.
Bridge Pavement Seal A bridge pavement seal that would provide a sealing force within a specification tolerance and a specification deflection.
Laminated Flex Joint Laminated Flex Joints are used as the joints in the tension legs of drilling platforms and other applications in the oil industry where low moments and no slip-stick friction are desired.
Seal Evaluation The objective of this analysis was to evaluate a seal to determine why is was leaking and then redesign to prevent the leaking.
Valve Diaphragm This axi-symmetric model consists of a Plug Bottom which is bolted to the Plug Top, thereby compressing the two o-rings and the diaphragm with the two rigid contact surfaces.
Annular Packer An annular packer is used in the oil industry to shut off a well.
Gas Spring The deformation changes the volume available for the gas, therefore the gas pressure changes.
Rubber Curing The objective of the analysis is to determine what initial conditions and what cure conditions will be needed to produce a fully cured part.
Shaft Sealing The model is a seal between two concentric shafts. The material model for this axi-symmetric model is a two coefficient Mooney-Rivlin.
Auto Gear Shift Boot The objective of the analysis was to design a boot for an automotive console gear shift that would provide a uniform moment when shifting.
Intravenous Flow Stopper This device is intended for use in hospitals to shut off the flow of intravenous solutions to the patient.
O Ring This is a simple axisymmetric model with an o-ring modeled in a gland with a simulated shaft.
Sports Bottle Cap The objective of this project was to design an elastomer cap for a sports bottle which will stay closed automatically and will only open up when the user wants it to and not when a transient pressure is applied.
